For this weeks ‘Thursday 13’ we check out 13 solo artists!

1) IU – Lee Jieun, better known as IU, made her debut in 2008 with her single ‘Lost Child’. Since then, IU has released 3 studio albums, 3 mini albums, 9 singles, as well as 2 Japanese EP’s and 3 Japanese singles. Aside from singing, she has also taken part in acting, having prominent roles in Dream High, You’re the Best Lee Soon-Shin, and Pretty Man. She has also been awarded many awards to celebrate her singing and acting career.

2) Lee Hi – Known as the runner up of SBS’s K-Pop Star Season 1, Lee Hi released her debut single ‘1,2,3,4’ in October 2012. She has also released a full length album called ‘First Love’ which was in 2 parts. She has also collaborated with artists such as Epik High. Let’s wait to see what Lee Hi has planned next!

3) BoA – BoA, dubbed as the ‘Queen of K-Pop’ debuted at the very young age of 13. Since then her career has been nothing but success under SM Entertainment. BoA has released 7 Korean studio albums and 3 EP’s, aswell as 7 Japanese studio albums, and 1 English studio album which have won her many awards! She has also taken part in acting, with her most recent project ‘Make Your Move’ which came out recently.

4) Ailee – Korean-American singer Ailee, made her debut not too long ago in 2012 with her first single ‘Heaven’. Since then she has released 2 Korean EP’s, as well as 2 Japanese singles. She was also apart of Dream High 2, meaning she has both a singing and acting career.

5) Huh Gak – Winner of Mnet’s talent competition series ‘Superstar K 2’, Huh Gak is under A Cube Entertainment. After his win, he debuted with the single ‘Always’ and since then has released 1 studio album, 4 EP’s, and 9 digital singles.

6) Ivy – Ivy has been in the Korean entertainment industry since her debut in 2005 with her single ‘What Happened Tonight’ but received much more success with her second single ‘A-ha’ known for its sexy dance routine. Since then Ivy has released 3 studio albums, and 2 EP’s, her last one dating to 2013.

7) Lee Hyori – Former member of girlband Fin.K.L, Hyori debuted as a solo artist in 2003 with her debut album ‘Stylish’, winning her many Daesang awards. Since her solo debut, she has released 5 studio albums, her latest one ‘Monochrome’ in 2013. Hyori recently married her boyfriend Lee Sang Soon in 2013.

8) K.Will – K.Will, known for his beautiful ballads, released his first album ‘Left Heart’ in 2007. He has released 4 studio albums and 4 EP’s. He is widely known for drama soundtracks, as well as the number of collaborations he has been involved in with.

9) Seo In Guk – After winning on ‘Superstar K’ in 2009, Seo In Guk launched his singing career. He then made his acting debut with drama ‘Love Rain’ but hit drama ‘Reply 1997’ is what really brought him into the spotlight. Although he has not released a studio album, he was a number of EP’s and digital singles as well as awards and nominations to his name.

10) Roy Kim – Winner of ‘Superstar K 4’, Roy Kim is still at the young age of 20. Despite his young age, he has released 2 studio albums, 2 digital singles, as well as singing the OST for drama ‘Reply 1994’.

11) Eric Nam – Signed under B2M Entertainment alongside Lee Hyori and Spica, Eric Nam was discovered on YouTube. His first album was ‘Cloud 9’ which was released in 2013, and has 3 singles, as well as 2 OST’s.

12) ALi – ALi is known for her strong vocals and unique voice. She made her debut in 2009. Following this, she is known for her time on KBS’s Immortal Song 2. She has released 1 studio album, 1 EP, and been apart of 3 OST’s.

13) Brian Joo – Although part of R&B duo Fly to the Sky, Brian Joo made his debut in 2006 with album ‘The Brian’. Since then he has released another 3 albums, his last one dating back to 2012.
