Welcome back to this week’s Thriller Thursday! Today we’re going to take a look at the 2001 thriller film, Say Yes.

Say Yes follows a young married couple, Yoon Hee and Jung Hyun, who are going on a road trip together to celebrate the publishing of Jung Hyun’s first manuscript. Along the way, they pick up a drifter named ‘M’ who is travelling alone, but this turns out to be a grave mistake when it becomes apparent that they have unwittingly picked up a violent and sadistic psychopath.

Over the course of a few days, M starts to disturb the couple’s time together with his rude actions and the like, and keeps provoking Jung Hyun. He proves himself to be a threat when he torments them only when no witnesses are present. The couple finally think that they have lost him when they learn the awful truth about the man they had picked up, and they end up fighting to survive when it seems that M has been on their trail the whole time.

This film is definitely grisly and gory, and I would advise you to steer clear if torture is something you cannot stomach to watch. I enjoyed the sheer hopelessness this film brought with it as the couple struggle to get out of a situation that they could never have thought up in their nightmares.

Until next time, thriller fans!
