The South Korean zombie apocalypse film ‘Train to Busan‘ will be premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2016!

Zombie films and TV series have been a highly popular genre over the past few years what with the success of the US series ‘The Walking Dead’ and Hollywood films like ‘Zombieland’ (2009) starring Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. It is understandable then, that many have been anticipating a take on the zombie world from Korean cinema.

The excitement grew further as it was revealed that the director would be none other than Yeon Sang Ho, who is known for his critically acclaimed animated film ‘The King of Pigs’ (2013), for which he also was invited to Cannes.

The film centres around passengers of a train bound for Busan that becomes taken over during a zombie apocalypse. Actors Gong Yoo, Jung Yoo Mi and even former Wonder Girls member Sohee all play train passengers trying to fight to survive.

Gong Yoo is perhaps best known for his roles in the 2005 drama ‘Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy’ and the films ‘The Crucible’ (2011) and ‘The Suspect’ (2013). While actress Jung Yoo Mi might be best known for her roles in the films ‘Chaw’ (2009) and ‘My Dear Desperado’ (2006) as well as ‘The Crucible’ alongside Gong Yoo and the 2013 drama series ‘Reply 1994’.
