August has begun! With it, it is starting to bring forward the rush of releases scheduled for this extremely busy month. Some of the biggest names have dropped new music this week including HyunA, Oh My Girl, BTOB and UP10TION.
HyunA has now officially debuted solo, with her first mini-album fronted by title track ‘How’s This?’ This song is close to the sultry, dance image that HyunA is most known for. But the mini-album itself is full of songs that are of very different genres that allow HyunA to show the diverse range of music she is capable of. All of the songs are unique and are really, really good. Another official debut that happened this week was that of boy group INX who have had a promising start with an MV that is visually modern but a track that is reminiscent of early 00’s K-Pop.
Oh My Girl, BTOB and UP10TION all have special summer themed releases which along with 9MUSES A, Stellar and SURAN’s new tracks, will be sure to put you in a sunny spirit. Girls Generation also celebrated their 9th year together since debut with a new song for fans as well as a video of the girls themselves thanking their supporters on the SMTown YouTube Channel. Starship Entertainment has also been getting a lot of attention this week for the pairing of their well-known boy group MONSTA X with the lesser known Cosmic Girls in a new unit called Y-Teen. Entertainment companies putting their groups together for commercials is not a new thing, but Starship seems to have a bigger plan with Y-Teen releasing a MV with plans to promote together, obviously, some fans are not happy.
Other songs that are worth checking out this week are from Eddy Kim & Subin, Basick with G2 & Hwasa, Taemin‘s Korean vers of ‘Sayonara Hitori’ which he performed on Hit The Stage as well as the new track by K-Indie greats Standing Egg.
