As we’re making the most of the summer, we’ve had several comebacks this week in mid-August from soloists Taeyang and Suran, SM’s been evidently been busy with new releases from NCT Dream and Red Velvet and more in this release round up!

Sonamoo

Release: The TS girl group were the first to have their comeback this week with the digital single ‘Friday Night‘ on August 14. By the title of the song, it’s about being restless at the end of the week and the desire to let loose all the worries and for the girls to just enjoy themselves in the party.

Taeyang

Release: 3rd Full Album ‘White Night’ with ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Darling’ serving as a double title track promotion for his latest comeback on August 16. Like with his previous releases, it strays away from the typical music was get from BIGBANG. Taeyang had even admitted that the muse for this album was from his girlfriend Min Hyorin. The YG artist’s album also peaked at #13 on the UK iTunes chart, the second highest from a soloist.

Suran

Release: The soloist has recently returned with her single ‘Sad Pain’ on August 16. The song reflects the melancholic tone of the title, the mental battle that is often left hidden behind the feigned brave persona. Whether the lyrics were born from personal experience or not, it can show people who feel the same way that they aren’t alone.

NCT Dream

Release: The youngest out of the SM latest boy group have made their second comeback this year with their 1st Mini Album ‘We Young‘. The album ranked #36 on the UK iTunes chart, the highest for the NCT unit group so far! You can check out our song review of the title track here.

Loco

Release: 2nd Mini Album ‘Summer Go Loco’ with the same titled promotional song featuring fellow AOMG artist and producer Gray, it was released on August 18. The song covered the topic of restlessness, wanting to escape reality by going away somewhere new with the potential prospect of a summer love.

Red Velvet

Release: The SM girl group have made a swift return since their comeback in July, thought they’ve been quite busy this year with new releases! They released the single ‘Rebirth’ for SM Station, which you can check the M/V out below! Throughout the video, the background stays the same as you see the girl’s reactions of the new male student play out with varied animated responses from each of the members.
