Infinite’s leader Kim Sung Kyu is back with 10 Stories, his first full studio album as a solo artist. Lead track True Love won him the top spot yesterday on SBS The Show.

Sung Kyu (or Sunggyu) is known in Korea for his strong, honey-like vocals. His success as an idol singer has humble origins – after being in a school rock band, he moved to Seoul from Jeonju against the wishes of his folks to pursue his dream of being a singer. A huge fan of indie rock band Nell, he joined the same label – Woollim Entertainment – after a chance meeting with Nell’s manager led to an audition. In what must be every fanboy’s dream, Lee Joon Hung of Nell features on his new album, teaming up with Sung Kyu for the track Til Sunrise.

Sung Kyu debuted with Infinite in 2010, and made his first debut as a solo artist in 2012 with the mini-EP Another Me. He released a second EP, 27, in 2015. Kim Jong Wan of Nell contributed a song to the first, Shine, and produced the second EP.

Aside from his leader and member duties in Infinite, he’s nabbed some impressive lead musical roles, playing Dracula, a young Elvis, and most recently Mozart. He’s also appeared on many popular reality/variety shows such as High Society 2, The Genius, Immortal Songs, Singdarella, Weekly Idol (as a co-presenter), and Please Take Care of My Refrigerator. He also appeared in a special KBS show, The Dreaming Sea, featuring six celebs living on a boat. He’s currently on the MBC show Living Together in an Empty Room, where he’s dealing with the comedian/actor Lee Kyungkyu and his two dogs as roommates.
