This week we have comeback releases from Red Velvet, JYP group:Stray Kids. Their comeback is get for the summer months. Also this week we see the debut of new 9 member hip hop group D-CRUNCH. Along with girl group Loona which are making their mark on the kpop scene. Let’s check out this week’s new releases!!!
Red Velvet 레드벨벳 “Power Up”
Red Velvet has finally made their awaited comeback with a song called “Power Up”. This song opens up with a harmonized vocal hook which is reminiscent of 60’s girl groups. I feel this is the most happiness element of the song. The chorus is the best part of the song as its like a chant-like chorus along with the unusual rhythm, helps, with enough variation to keep listeners on their toes.
Stray Kids(스트레이 키즈) “My Pace”
My pace is a new song release by JYP Stray kids. This song retains the groups core elements with a few new twists. Stray Kids have been paid with Earattack in order to produce this track. The song songs starts off with a rock element, with the gritty guitar riff and strong vocals. When it goes to gets the chorus, it has surprisingly brought the synths which gives a different vibe to the song. D-CRUNCH(디크런치)- “Palace”
D- CRUNCH is a new rookie group,who has debuted on the August 6th 2018. They are a 9 member hip hop group, which name D-CRUNCH is short for Diamond Crunch. The meaning of the name is they are a team with great power and performance who is able to crush the world strongest metal. They have made their mark on the kpop scene. The song is called Place and was written and composed by the members themselves. The song is about following your goals and having perseverance, whilst the group is in middle of fear of not succeeding. The song has really good hip hop beat along with great rapping from the members.
이달의 소녀 (LOONA) “favOriTe”
Loona effectively released music in 2016. After of two years of pre-release bulid-up, Loona has released a new song with all 12 members. The track is call favOriTe’, which showcases the full capabilities of the 12 members when together as a unit. The members are sassy, powerful and have fantastic vocals. The song itself is intense with the focus on the percussion combined with a slight jazz elements. Also, right from the start, the song engages with a series of brassy synths and prominent breakbeat. This song is the start for Loona and they will be a force that will shake up the KPOP Industry.
BTS (방탄소년단) LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer ‘Epiphany’ Comeback Trailer
Finally, BigHit Entertainment shares the comeback trailer for BTS’ upcoming repackaged album Love Yourself: Answer The track, entitled “Epiphany”, centers on BTS’ Jin who finally got the “Jintro” everyone had been looking forward to. This song is amazing. The song has raw emotions and pierces through your hear like a dagger. The track sounds like alt-rock, a little reminiscent of the mid-2000s, as it blends soft acoustic guitar with wavy electric riffs. Hes vocals are dreamy and very stiking on the background harmonies and adlibs. The lyrics resprensted the idea on an epiphany, where you realise the need to love one’s self first before loving others. Jin has an amazing voice and it makes all the fans really excited for the upcoming album release on the 24th August, before they start thier world tour.
