PSYCHIC FEVER from EXILE TRIBE are a seven-member boy group, consisting of TSURUGI, RYOGA, REN, JIMMY, KOKORO, RYUSHIN and WEESA.

They debuted in 2022 with their EP P.C.F, showcasing their blend of dance, rap and vocal skills- instantly gaining an ever-growing fan base.

Now they’re back with their first full length album in four years, titled DIFFERENT. Featuring 10 new songs, this project aims to show a new side to PSYCHIC FEVER. It creates a fusion of new sounds and their own distinctive and beloved style.

I was lucky enough to speak with them about this new album, what makes it special and what they’d like fans to take from this project.

Thank you for speaking with me today. I’m super excited, I’m a big fan. We’re. Super happy to have you in the uk! Your new album is amazing. It has a very fresh sound, very summery and perfect for our weather right now.

How would you describe the vibe of this album?

JIMMY: this is our first album in four years, so we wanted to promote a positive message with it. We hoped it would be positive for our internal fans, as well as our fans at home. As a group we wanted to include our international fans in our messages now too.

What is different about this album, compared to your projects before?

WEESA: Jimmy and I had more of a role in the song writing for this album, and other members helped with the choreography. We wanted to get more involved with this process for this album.

For the members that were involved in song writing- specifically JIMMY and WEESA– what inspired you, did you have any sounds that you wanted to include in your songs?

JIMMY: we recently had a Japan tour called “ROOTS”, where we wanted it celebrated our culture and roots through our music. We wanted to let our cultures inspire us. I’m half Nigerian, so I wanted to try Afrobeats in some of our songs this time.

WEESA: as this album is titled DIFFERENT, we wanted to try a lot of different sounds. Our songs are also inspired by Y2K, RnB and hip hop sounds, like a hybrid of different music and culture.

That’s amazing, you can really hear the blend of vibes on this album. Do any of you have a favourite song from it? it’s hard to choose.

RYUSHIN: All of them.

TSURUGI: your top 1 though?

RYUSHIN: hmm, into you. It was our first time trying afrobeats in our music. I think it really showed a new side of psychic fever to our fans.

Do you have any other genres you’d like to try?

WEESA: as psychic fever, we’ve tried a lot of sounds I’ve been proud of so it’s hard to pick. I would like to try EDM, that’s popular in the UK too, right?

Good choice! It is reslly popular here! I think the UK fans would love that.

Speaking of, you’ve been connecting more with your European fans recently, with both the shows and workshops. Do you have a message you’d like to share with your fans here in the UK?

JIMMY: please stream DIFFERENT! As I mentioned, it’s our first album in a few years and it’s our favourite. We really want to perform it here for you guys and do a full concert. We look forward to meeting you all. So please hang tight and look forward to that!

And remember to stream DIFFERENT.

DIFFERENT is available to stream now on all major platforms.
