For this weeks ‘Tune In Tuesday’ we look at BTS’s ‘Boy In Luv’, which they came back with only last week!

Big Hit’s hip-hop boy group BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys/Bulletproof Boy Scouts, released their 2nd mini album (Skool Luv Affair) last week with their title track ‘Boy In Luv’. In a way, they are sticking to a school theme, their first debut single album titled ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’.

The aim of the song was to reflect on young ideas of love, bringing out the emotion of teenagers.

‘Boy In Luv’ is a hip-hop/rock song, the drum rhythm going well with the rapping and chanting which brings out the hip-hop in the song, whilst the guitar line throughout brings out the rock, giving it an overall hardcore feel – which is quite different to many of the songs in k-pop today. The hardcore feel of the song is matched to the MV with the strong, synchronised dancing.

However, the group are also able to show off their vocals where the song becomes softer, slowing down, and the girl is being confessed to. This contrasts to the rest of the song and showcases the talented vocalists of BTS.

Although the rapping is good, it would have been nice if there were more vocals. Nonetheless, it is a great song, showing that BTS can rap, sing, and dance!
