Monsta X are a seven member male group that debuted under Starship Entertainment last year. The members are: Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon and I.M.

The group were actually formed through an Mnet survival television show entitled ‘No Mercy’. Despite not officially debuting until 2015, the members worked away during the programme and released a few tracks to show off their talents. The single ‘0 (Young)’ by Jooheon, Kihyun, Wonho, Seokwon, and I.M featured Giriboy, Mad Clown, and Jooyoung, Jooheon, Hyungwon and I.M released ‘Interstellar’ and Jooheon also released his own mixtape entitled JUNG JI.

Many of the Monsta X members have also guest-starred in various K-Pop music videos. For example Shownu and Wonho were in SISTAR’s ‘Shake It’ MV and Hyungwon featured in K-Will’s MV for ‘You Call it Romance’.

Thankfully for fans of the group, these idols have frequently appeared on a variety of television appearances. They have guested on ‘After School Club’, ‘Weekly Idol’ and ‘King of Mask Singer’ to name a few.  Some of the members have also contributed to the soundtracks of dramas. Jooheon and Kihyun featured on ‘Orange Marmalade’’s OST with ‘Attracted Woman’ and Kihyun sang the song ‘One More Step’ for ‘She Was Pretty’.

Monsta X have released two Eps entitled ‘Trespass’ and ‘Rush’ and have released two official MVs of the same name. They have also released numerous unofficial videos for these and other tracks including ‘Selfcam’ versions in which each member is given a camera to film themselves for the videos. This is an interesting little extra effort for fan enjoyment that has also been embraced by fellow K-Pop group Bangtan Boys (BTS) with some of their songs.

This group has been well received in the K-Pop scene and despite not hitting the top spots with their releases yet, they have managed to enter the Top 10 with both their EPs. One thing is certain; these guys are very hard-working and prolific which will hopefully pay off with further success in the future.
