Members Siwon and Eunhyuk – who have both visited the UK in the last year – recently attended British multi-genre band Jamiroquai’s Korean concert, ‘Audi 2012 Live’ in Seoul. What’s even more surprising, is that Jamiroquai also knows of Super Junior.
Siwon excitedly tweeted from the concert with the picture above, captioning it “Jamiroquai babe! AUDI LIVE 2012 in SEOUL!” on August 22nd. The duo were dressed smartly for the occasion, but they didn’t forget to bring some good ol’ glowsticks.
Jamiroquai’s front man ‘Jay Kay’ told the Korean media in advance of his concert that he had seen Super Junior’s music videos, he stated, “I saw Super Junior’s music videos, they’re very popular.” Leader Leeteuk took to twitter after hearing the news and thanked Jay Kay, “Jamiroquai-nim whom I’m such a fan of!! Thank you!!!^^”.
Siwon, along with Jang Geun Suk (who has also visited the UK), got the chance to meet Jay Kay today (23rd August). Siwon tweeted a picture of the three of them captioned, “With my muse Jamiroquai and Mr.stylish @asiaprince_jks 🙂 it was such a great time!”
He also tweeted a photo of himself presenting some of Super Junior’s CDs to Jay Kay, simply captioned with a smiley face.
Could this mean another British celebrity fan of K-pop? Or at least, Super Junior? K-pop is most certainly moving up the radar in the west, with many non British celebrities taking interest too – such as Nelly Furtado who recently stated she wished to collaborate with BIGBANG’s TOP, and she also performed Gangnam Style at her Manila concert. What do you think of the recent surge in interest? Could it be down to Gangnam Style going viral, and could Gangnam Style have opened the path for more acceptance of Korean Pop?
