For the second year in a row, PSY, the rapper every K-pop fan loves to hate, has seized the title Most Watched Video of the Year on YouTube once again.
Last year, the viral star topped the chart with Gangnam Style at 1.8 billion views – which remains YouTube’s most watched video of all time.
This year PSY has beat out Western favourites once again with his follow up track Gentleman, which sits at almost 600 million views. PSY was followed by Miley Cyrus, who took both 2nd and 3rd spots with her hits Wrecking Ball and We Can’t Stop.
Recently PSY was also nominated for Wembley Stadium’s ‘Moment Of the Year‘, bring achievement after achievement to his 12 year career. PSY isn’t the only Korean artist to receive Western attention as of late, as fellow YG artist Taeyang is now followed by pop star Rihanna on Instagram, not to mention Jedward’s love of BIGBANG.
And it’s not only YG either, with Jedward also meeting with EXO – who won the ‘EMAzing Artist’ social buzz – and of course, the unforgettable collaboration between Crayon Pop and Ylvis. Let’s not forget SNSD’s Video Of The Year win from the YouTube Awards either. It’s been a big year for K-pop.
