JAMES, James Lee formerly of Royal Pirates, now an independent solo artist has shared his trip to Sweden to record with producer Neko.
Part 1 sees JAMES arrive in Stockholm, attempt to read the Swedish signs, discuss writing his first demo ‘All To You’ and find many dogs (real and plush) that remind him of his own dog, Jerry the Wolf.
The producer JAMES is working with, Neko Chance is a noted singer-songwriter from America. She is well recognised both as a member of the Canadian indie rock group, The New Pornographers, and for her solo work. Her extensive solo catalogue includes contributions to well-known film and television, such as The Hunger Games and Boardwalk Empire.
Given the trials JAMES has faced, it is exciting to see the musical journey these last twelve months have taken him on. Having had to depart from Royal Pirates due to a terrible incident in which a glass restaurant door shattered, damaging his wrist so badly doctors suggested amputation, JAMES sought medical help back in his home country of America. Though his wrist is still not recovered fully, JAMES decided to venture back into music, setting up a Kickstarter campaign to fund his debut solo EP, The Light. Through his own determination and a little help from good friend Amber Liu, the Kickstarter was fully funded in no time and The Light was a fully realised album.
Having ventured out to Stockholm at the end of last year it looks like we could be expecting more music from JAMES in the near future.
