The first drama we’re going to be reviewing, as the title suggests, is You’re Beautiful. You’re Beautiful stars Park Shin Hye, Jung Yonghwa [CNBLUE], Lee Hongki [FT Island] and Jang Geun Suk.

Go Mi Nyu [Park Shin Hye] is a nun in training and her twin brother Go Mi Nam [Also Park Shin Hye] is a singer who successfully auditioned for the boy band A.N.JELL as a new member. But when he becomes a victim of botched surgery he has to fly out to the States to have it corrected. Mi Nam’s manager then approaches Mi Nyu and begs her to take his place whilst he recovers. At first she refuses, but in the name of finding their mother, she finally agrees. Mi Nyu then becomes Mi Nam and enters A.N.JELL with it’s members Hwang Taekyung [Geuk Suk], Jeremy [Hongki], and Kang Shinwoo [Yonghwa].

The drama follows the ensuing relationships between the members as Mi Nyu goes undercover as Mi Nam. Taekyung is the seemingly cold hearted leader with the highest popularity due to his looks. Jeremy is the cheery and comedic drummer of the band from England. Lastly, Shinwoo is the quiet yet kind hearted guitarist who looks after Mi Nyu as Mi Nam from day one.

Acting:

Both Shin Hye and Geun Suk are already renowned in the acting industry in Korea so as expected, both deliver a great performance in the drama from the happy moments to the sad moments.

Hongki was previously a child actor, but You’re Beautiful marked his first return to acting since his younger days. Although not as experienced as Shin Hye and Geun Suk, his acting was extremely impressive as he managed to realistically pull off a sudden change of emotions.

Yonghwa on the other hand, had no previous acting experience, this was his debut as an actor. For his first time acting he was pretty good, maybe a little stiff at times but not enough to effect the quality of the drama. As a rookie actor he did exceptionally well in emotional scenes and also displayed his guitar playing talents.

Overall:

Speaking about the drama as a whole, it’s highly enjoyable and recommendable to any fan of K-dramas. There are some moments that will have you fangirling like crazy, whilst others have you nearly in tears. Although some parts, are a little embarrassing.

Score:

4.3/5
