In this week’s Cube Entertainment breakdown edition, we’ll be trying to keep up with set changes and a (lack of) storyline as we look at BTOB’s ‘Wow’…

…’Lack of’ being the choice of words to describe the storyline because there really isn’t one. Okay – there might be elements of a story, but the scenes I’m referring to can only be fillers. That, or something went disastrously wrong during the storyboard meeting. Pictured in the video is a girl with a mysterious aura, or in other words, creepy. When she’s not leaving roses lying around on the floor or appearing/disappearing with no warning, she’s caressing the BTOB members and seducing them by dangling cherries at them. What is more confusing than this girl disappearing is the BTOB members disappearing too. Where? Why? How? Understandably, a little dash of intrigue is more exciting than being given all the answers but this story doesn’t make sense. We can’t follow it anywhere. The appearing/disappearing effects are pretty cool, though.

What the storyline lacks, the choreography makes up for. The dancing in the video is perfectly in sync and the moves are unpredictable, with really interesting, exciting points that call for a smart choreographer. A number of swift formations take place and nobody could ask for any more energy to be given.

The outfits aren’t truly mind blowing but each costume change matches the set changes, apart from some of those suit jackets. In the room that looks like it belongs in an ancient, dusty mansion some of the members wear jackets with shiny, metallic accents. That material just wouldn’t have been around in the setting used in the video, the material wouldn’t have even been invented. It feels slightly in-congruent. While the rather dazzlingly bright white set and outfits are, well, just that, the outfits used in the ‘filler’ scenes are sleek and smart, contrasting with the bright hip-hop inspired clothing in the individual member clips and the outfits near the end, though the set introduced near the end doesn’t seem necessary.

There are a lot of good points about ‘Wow’ so check it out below!
