Hey there, and welcome back to the next installment of United K-Pop’s ‘UK Fan Talents‘ section!
As you know, this section is dedicated to showcasing the talents of Korean Pop fans in the UK, singers, DJs, and dancers alike.
A massive section of Kpop talent, in the UK and beyond, is made up of ‘Cover Artists’. People who sing their favourite songs for others to hear, often expressing their powerful voices and/or rapping abilities. Some sing in Korean while others may rewrite the lyrics into English, and some remix songs, showcasing excellent producing skills as they take an original spin on a well known Kpop song.
For this article, we’ll be focusing on a cover artist:
Joanna Darnley/funkystar25!
Some know her, some may not, but she’s definitely amassed a following on YouTube. Over a million views on her channel and over 7000 subscribers, many are aware of her talent. Her online following is also partially due to her appearance on TV shows in Korea, a notable one being Hidden Singer.

The above videos are merely my favourites but you can check out more on her YouTube, where she has covers not limited to Korean, but English and Chinese, as well. A force to be reckoned with, keep an eye out for more fantastic music!
