May bank holiday weekend sees the Liverpool Sound City festival take place; but if you’re still interested in seeing the Korean indie acts even though Festivals aren’t your thing – we might have the answer.

On May 26th, just two nights before Sound City kicks off you’ll be able to see all three groups [Dead Buttons, PATiENTS, and 57 (Oh-Chill)] take the the stage at Manchester’s Night & Day Cafe, thanks to Splitting The Atom. Situated on Oldham Street, just off Manchester’s high street, Night & Day Cafe is definitely a gem in the city’s indie scene. (In fact, Night & Day played host to the first UK Korean indie show we ever covered!)

Dead Buttons
A Seoul-based rock n roll duo, Dead Buttons are returning to the UK for the third consecutive year. Jihyun Hong and Kanghee Lee secured themselves a Hello Rookie win in 2014 and have only continued their success.
Their first full album, Some Kind of Youth, dropped in January this year. Featuring some of their English language tracks from their 2014 popular EP, Whoever You Are, Some Kind of Youth captures the spirit of rock n roll, in a way wonderfully reminiscent of the UK’s shoe-gazers.

PATiENTS
PATiENTS are a hybrid punk band from Seoul, though since we last saw vocalist and bass player Sumin Jo, and Keyboard player Hyuckjang Kwon joined by new drummer Soowon Choi.
The first half of 2015 saw the group release 19, an album that showed off their take on punk with extreme skill. With plenty of lyrics that will have the crowd chanting along, PATiENTS show that punk isn’t just a sound, it’s a feeling.

57 (Oh-Chill)
This two-piece rock bank from Jeonju, South Korea, features male guitarist Junhong Yun and female drummer Sur Kim.
57 blend influences from alternative, garage and punk rock bands, to share their own electrifying sound. 57 are on the road to even more success, having secured themselves prizes at two of South Korea’s most prominent band audition competitions in 2015.
