It was announced just hours ago that American singer-songwriter Prince has died. The multi-talented artist has been a major figure in music for over thirty years, and leaves behind an incredible legacy.
As a pioneer of Minneapolis Sound Prince gave us music that stood out from the crowd. With a hybrid mix of pop, rock, funk, synthpop and new wave, Prince’s signature sound became a dominant influence over years of pop and R&B music, and the growth of electro, house and techno. It’s a distinct influence that can today be heard in many, including the likes of Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson.
An unusual man, to say the least, Prince has gone by many stage names over the years; including using just his unpronounceable symbol to signify himself, this prompting the media to dub his as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.
But regardless of the name you choose to remember him by, it’s undeniable that Price will be remembered – and plenty of Korean artists are already paying tribute to Prince.
