John Park is a Korean-American solo singer that debuted in South Korea in 2010. He is known for his R&B, soul, and blues style of music and is signed under Music Farm Entertainment.
Park was born and raised in the USA – in Chicago, Illinois, to be exact. He is currently enrolled in an Economics major at Northwestern University, but is taking a break from his studies to focus on his singing career. Before he came to South Korea, John Park even made it to the semi-finals in the ninth season of popular singing talent show ‘American Idol’!
In 2010 – after his near-success on ‘American Idol’, the singer took part in the second season of the Korean talent show ‘Superstar K2’, on which he finished second. He was pipped to the post by Huh Gak.
It was clear that John Park had made an impression even despite coming runner-up yet again though, as he was snapped up by Music Farm and could finally begin his singing career.
So far, Park has released one studio album entitled ‘Inner Child’ and one EP entitled ‘Knock’. Perhaps, partly due to his exposure on talent shows, many other songs of his have charted and enjoyed a large amount of success even without much promotion. He has released ten music videos and has collaborated with many different artists, including: Huh Gak, Younha and Leesang’s Gary. John Park has also recorded tracks for the drama series ‘Glove’ (2011) and the popular film 2012 film ‘A Werewolf Boy’. His talents certainly don’t end at singing, Park also plays the guitar, piano and drums.
John Park may also be a familiar face to fans of Korean television, as he has made numerous appearances on various variety shows. He has been a guest on ‘Happy Together’, ‘SBS Running Man’, ‘Laws of the Jungle’, ‘Gag Concert’, ‘Cool Kiz on the Block’ and more!
He has won two awards so far: the Best New Male Solo Artist for his song ‘Falling’ in 2012 at the ‘2nd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ and the Show/Variety Male Newcomer Award in 2013 for his work on ‘Cool Kiz on the Block’.
He is currently promoting his latest single ‘Thought Of You’ which was released earlier this month.
