We’re nearing the end of Women’s History Month, and there’s no denying the sheer talent and beautiful voices that the women of K-music offer from across all genres. So, without further ado, here are 10 Korean female artists, some well-known while others are the hidden gems of the underground, to add to your ultimate playlist:

  1. Suran

수란, also known as Elena, debuted in the duo LODIA in 2014 and made her solo debut on December 17, 2014 with the single I Feel. She has featured in many songs and collaborated with various artists such as AGUST D (So Far Away), ZICO (Paradise Lost), Primary and Beenzino (Mannequin) and in CODE KUNST’s recent album, Muggles’ Mansion (Beside Me, alongside BeWhy and YDG).

  1. Hoody

Kim Hyun-Jung, better known by her stage name Hoody (후디), is a member of the all-female underground hip-hop crew Amourette (AMRT), which consists of KittiB, Nieah and SERI. As of 2015, Hoody is signed with AOMG, a record label headed by Jay Park, making her the first female artist of the company. On December 2016, Hoody released her first EP, On and On.

  1. Subin

Subin is best known as a member of girl group, Dal Shabet. On May 2016, she debuted as a soloist with the single album Flower, with two songs titled Flower and Hate – both songs written and produced by Subin herself.

  1. Yeseo

 Although not much is known about Yeseo, she self-produces, composes, mixes, masters and provides the vocals for all of her songs. Yeseo releases her original songs on her Soundcloud. She recently featured in Monsta X’s I.M’s mixtape, WHO AM I.

  1. Heize

Jang Da-hye, better known by her stage name Heize, made her debut in 2014 with her mini album Heize. She participated in the music competition program Unpretty Rapstar 2 in 2015, and has collaborated with various artists such as Dean (Shut Up & Groove), EXO’s Chanyeol (Don’t Make Money) and Jessi and Wheesung (Me, Myself and I).

  1. MISO

MISO is another mysterious one, born in South Korea but lived half her life in England, she is an aspiring music producer who sings and writes lyrics as well. She is also a member of Club Eskimo, an underground hip-hop and RnB crew, alongside Dean, Crush, Punchnello, Millic, Offonoff, Jusen, Chek Parren, 2xxx, Camper and Rad Museum.   1. Kisum

Jo Hye-ryung, also known by her stage name Kisum (키썸), competed on the first season of the variety show Unpretty Rapstar. She had previously competed in season three of variety show, Show Me The Money 3. Kisum released her first EP, Like It, on August 2014 and her second EP, Musik, on June 2016. She has collaborated with various artists such as Mamamoo’s Hwasa (Love Talk), Homme (3sec) and Jooyoung (You & Me).

  1. Narae Lee

Not much is known about Narae Lee either. Signed under Pastel Music, Narae Lee recently released Miss You and Mellow Song.

  1. Bolballgan4

Bolbbalgan4 (볼빨간 사춘기) is an indie female duo under Shofar Music. Their name means, ‘red-cheeked puberty’ or ‘Blushing Youth’ – the idea that they wanted to make music as pure as girls in puberty. The duo participated on Superstar K6 in 2014 and signed a contract with their current agency, but didn’t make their debut until 2016 with the release of their first mini album, Red Ickle, on April 22, 2016. On August 2016, the duo released their first full-length album, Red Planet with eleven songs.
