JBJ is a fan-created group who has come straight out from Season 2 of Produce 101. This group is where the fans of Produce 101 voted for seven members: Takada Kenta, Kim Yong Guk, Kim Sang Gyun, Kim Dong Han, Noh Tae Hyun, Kim Tae Dong, and Kwon Hyun Bin. Unfortunately, Kim Tae Dong could not join the group due to issues with his agency. JBJ is an acronym for “Just Be Joyful” Their debut EP is appropriately titled “Fantasy”.
The EP kicks off with a powerful intro track: “J.B.J (Intro).” This track is primarily rapping and showcases the rappers really well. I was expecting a weak intro but I was totally wrong and it was a very strong track to beginning the EP.
The title track is called “Fantasy”. It was a great title track for JBJ. This is excellent club banger as well in continuing the tough image which was created by their intro track. The harmonies of each member were very good. The hip-hop and some electric guitars sounds make this song great to listen too.
Heres the MV for “Fantasy”:
Continuing with the album review, the next track from JBJ is “Say My Name” I would say this is my favourite song on the album. It has pounding rhythms and raps which contrasts each other which makes it a great song. The main verses bring beautiful harmonies but the chorus gives us loud synths and amazing hooks. What a great song.
Here’s the performance of “Say My Name”
“Ride With Me” is a sweet, upbeat song. It not my favourite song of the EP but it’s a good listen. It has a good beat and sounds like a summer song. It has a catchy beat which makes it easy to groove along too. The final song is “As If In A Dream”.This track a nice, light R&B ballad. It is different to other tracks in the album as this is slower. It really shows the playful side to JBJ.
Overall this album is nice introductory to JBJ and future activities to come. This is a group that was fan created and I think the fans of JBJ are happy they are able to promote together. I really enjoyed the album and hopefully, in the future, they are able to promote with different concepts and styles. I can’t wait for their next comeback.
