We’ve all been watching this space, and finally Kim Chung Ah has stunned all her avid fans once again with her new album ‘Offset’, which was released on the 17th of January and features 5 songs; Offset, Do it, Bad Boy and 너의 온도 (Remind of you). Whist Offset is only a mini album, the versatility of Chung Ah’s voice is clear as every song takes on a different sound.

The title track Offset takes on a mellow sound with an old school beat paired with Chung Ah’s sweet voice. However Roller coaster revives 80’s retro pop and combines it with her dynamic voice to create a new sound. Although the video (which has over 7 million views) complies with the retro theme, it remains lively and current with the choreography. Like her previous album ‘Hands on me’ we can distinctly hear the jazz influence in her electro swing style present in this album.

Since becoming one of the finalists on Produce 101, a South Korean elimination show, Kim Chung Ah has gone from rookie to upcoming star. She’s gone on to win awards such as best female idol in the 2017 Korean First Brand Awards, to best new artist in the 2018 Seoul music Awards. She’s gone on to collaborate with the likes of Babylon, a reputable K-R&B Artist, and Samuel, who participated in the second season of Produce 101.

Since I.O.I has disbanded, Kim Chung Ah is the only one to become a soloist, a bold move in a market already so saturated. However she’s paved a name for herself, and whilst she’s still upcoming and finding her own sound she now has a large following.
