Last night, Park Chan Wook‘s film The Handmaiden bags an award at the 2018 British Academy Film Awards!

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) is an annual ceremony that celebrates the achievements made in film each year.

The Handmaiden is first Korean film to receive a nomination and win at the BAFTA film awards. The film was nominated for the Best Film Not in the English Language category alongside Elle, First They Kill My father, Loveless and Salesman.

Based on the novel “Fingersmith”, The Handmaiden tells the story of a Japanese heiress who has inherited a fortune and a handmaiden hired by a man who wishes to steal her wealth. The cast included Kim Min Hee, Kim Tae Ri, Ha Jung Woo, and Jo Jin Woong.
