Blackpink have made history by being the first female k-pop group to enter the Official UK Charts!
‘Kiss and Makeup’, their collaboration with Dua Lipa, entered the charts this week at number 36. The track features on Dua Lipa’s Complete Edition of her self-titled album, and contains both English and Korean lyrics.
Although it is the group’s first entry in the Top 40, it is not the first time they have had success in the UK. The group previously entered the Top 100 with ‘Ddu-du-Ddu-du’ back in June.
This makes Blackpink the third Korean artist achieve success in the UK charts. Psy had been first with ‘Gangnam Style’ back in 2011, followed by BTS with ‘Idol’ in August.
There’s no doubt Blackpink will continue their success in the UK. However, it may be a while until we see a group comeback, as YG Entertainment recently announced that each member would be making their solo debut. Jennie is set to be first on November 12th.
If you haven’t listened to ‘Kiss and Makeup’ already, you can listen to the song on Spotify.
Congratulations to Blackpink, and Dua Lipa!
