It seems Gangnam Style has well and truly taken over the UK! Rising from 34 places from 37, it made it to number 3 on the UK Official Top 40 for this week on BBC Radio 1. As he announced it’s placing, presenter Reggie Yates commented that sales had risen 446% in the past week and that it looks likely that the song with rise to number 1 in next week’s chart. The crew in the studio promised to dance along as it was being played.

After placing in the Official Top 40, it was announced that Gangnam Style had made it’s debut in the Big Top 40, the chart played on all the commercial hit music radio stations across the UK. Big Top 40 is a realtime chart with numbers 40-11 being based on radio airplay for the week and iTunes and the top 10 being based purely on the current live iTunes chart. As Gangnam Style has been top of the iTunes singles chart for the past few days, PSY easily took the number 1 spot!

If  this trend continues then PSY will definitely take the official number 1 spot next week and hopefully will make an appearance in the UK as promised. Are you excited for him? Or are you just sick of the song now? Do you think it will actually make it all the way to number 1? Are all your friends listening to the song and do you know any new fans that found K-pop through the song? Let us know in the comments.
