“Love Rain” is a complicated love story starring Jang Geun Suk, known for his roles in “You’re Beautiful” and “Baby and Me”, and SNSD’s Im Yoona, who has also previously starred in “You Are My Destiny”.

The story starts in the 1970’s illustrating the love story between In Ha (Guen Suk) and Yoon Hee (Yoona) but due to unfortunate circumstances they are unable to be together. It then moves to the present day to show the lives of the children from the previous ill-fated couple, who also meet and fall in love. Seo Joon, In Ha’s son, plays a liberal photographer who meets Ha na, Yoon Hee’s daughter, a cheerful and energetic gardener. They are also played by Geun Suk and Yoona.

Although it starts of sweet, like most other dramas, things start to get complicated with the reunion of their parents who might still be in love, which means it will be difficult for the children to continue their relationship which they started unaware of their parents past.

Without spoiling it too much, there are many ups and downs which means there are many break ups and make ups, and means both the couples eventually have to confront eachother of their relationships, resulting in misunderstandings and difficulties.

Despite it being a melodrama, there were many comical moments which show it to be very “romcom” at the same time, making it not so miserable and depressing.

Overall, 7/10 because at times it tended to drag and not just get on with it. The acting was also very impressive, especially since Yoona, being a singer, has little experience in acting. Therefore, I do recommend it despite the sometimes dragging.
