PSY has become the very first performer of full Asian birth and descent to gain one million UK sales!

As every single British K-Pop fan probably knows, PSY – the South Korean rapper from YG Entertainment gained a lot if global success in 2012 with his summer song ‘Gangnam Style’.

He has engaged in a lot of international promotions as a result of the song’s worldwide success. This includes appearing on American chats show ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and more recently even filming an advert for the huge annual American Football event The Superbowl.

Back in October, PSY became the first K-Pop act to gain a UK Number one in the Official UKTop40 chart.

It has been revealed that ‘Gangnam Style’ has now sold over a million copies here, which is a big thing in number, but also in the fact that it makes PSY the first Asian, born and raised, to gain this title.

“This is an amazing achievement by Psy,” saying, “It is further confirmation of Gangnam Style as a true phenomenon – it is the first UK million-seller by an Asian music star, and a sign that K-Pop has truly arrived in the UK!”
