It’s quite funny that, rather than one of the bigger British news outlets, ‘Dazed and Confused’ turns out to be one of the most informed and adventurous UK explorers of the K-Pop genre. Of course, they have tended to favour the more Western-friendly works given by the likes of G-dragon and 2NE1’s CL, but their latest K-Pop piece definitely shows the vast differences this genre contains.

The K-Pop world rarely stops rolling and there have been many big comebacks recently. As with many top tens on ‘Dazed and Confused’s’ website ‘Dazed Digital’, there is no countdown order, but rather a collection with small explanations following each MV. This top ten is not all about the winners either, SHINee‘s latest release in particular received some slightly harsh criticisms:

SHINee’s “Everybody” gets the megabucks video treatment, yet crash lands. I’m talking seven-car K-Pop pile up on the freeway of WTF.

– Taylor Glasby.

The author Glasby then continues with some choice words of advice for SHINee‘s company SM Entertainment:

Perhaps it’s time that SHINee’s label SM Entertainment took their eye off newer breakout boyband EXO and put SHINee’s considerable talents back on the priority list.

– ibid.

This, along with fairly detailed descriptions of some of the artists’ histories and the inclusion of a vast amount of different groups and singers really shows an in-depth awareness of the K-Pop industry and the more positive comments will undoubtedly please a lot of UK fans!
