For this week’s ‘Friday Foods’ we check out how to make Dak Galbi, a delicious chicken and vegetable dish!
– 400g chicken breast, diced
– soy sauce
– salt and pepper
– 1tbsp garlic, minced
– 1tbsp ginger, minced
– 1/2 onion, grated
– 1tbsp Korean chili powder
– 4tbsp Korean chili paste
– 2tbsp rice wine
– 1 sweet potato, peeled and diced
– 1/2 carrot, chopped
– 1/3 cabbage, chopped
– 300g rice cakes
– 1 green pepper, chopped
– a dozen perilla leaves
Step 1: Place the diced chicken breasts into a bowl. Add in 1tbsp of soy sauce and a pinch of salt and pepper and work into the chicken.
Step 2: To make the sauce – mix the garlic, ginger, grated onion, chili powder, chili paste and rice wine.
Step 3: Into a large pan – spread the chopped cabbage at the bottom, add the potato, carrot, rice cakes and green pepper.
Step 4: Place the perilla leaves on top.
Step 5: Place the marinated chicken on top, in the centre.
Step 6: Add the sauce on top.
Step 7: Cover the pan and cook on a medium heat for about 20 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
