Hit US series The Walking Dead returns to UK screens tonight, with the mid-season premiere showing on FOX UK tonight at 9pm. Is Alexandria going to fall? Who is Negan? And most importantly, if Daryl dies, we riot!

But while we wait to find out what AMC has in store for us, why not take a look at some of Kpop’s zombie concepts!

T-ara: Lovey Dovey (Zombie version)

In T-ara’s zombie version of Lovey Dovey the club they are at becomes overrun with the walking dead, but that’s okay, T-ara are able to carry on dancing due to metal gates that block separate the brain eating monsters from the girl group. Until of course the one, useless security officer lets them through – the girls don’t even run.
What other way is there to end this mv, than the slightly zombified girls leading the room of walkers in a dance session?

Speed: Zombie Party

The opening of Zombie Party features Vincent Price’s recognisable laugh from the Michael Jackson Thriller narration.
Another rather low budget mv, we see a zombified Kpop group showing off their walking dead dance skills again. There’s little narrative in Zombie Party, save for the implication that Taewoon simply imagined it all whilst reading the Czech version of H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine. This feels a little like crowbarring a purpose into the mv; given that the depiction of zombies in the Speed mv is not even loosely based on the zombie-ish Morlock species in the novel.

Twice: Like OOH-AHH

Twice are surrounded by the living dead in this mv, but it really makes very little sense. It could be argued that the use of Zombies in the Twice and T-ara mvs are commentary on fans of Kpop, but calling your fans a mindless herd of followers would not be the smartest thing to do!
One of the Zombies finds his heart begins to beat again, an it is his love for Twice that causes that. A slight reference to the novel Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion, or it’s film counterpart by Jonathan Levine, staring Nicholas Hoult, maybe!

Kim Jin Pyo ft. LYn: Zombie (Walking Dead)

It is Kim Jin Pyo however that knows zombies aren’t all pretty idols and dance routines. In this brilliant narrative the male lead is bitten and infected when trying to protect his girlfriend. The narrative is clear and dramatic, with the female having to deal with his change, and what her eventual actions must be.
There’s also fantastic references to the AMC show, with scenes of dead soldiers, a zombie dragging herself across the grass, and the revelation that the Zombie virus lives in everyone; including Jin Pyo and the female.
It is however the difference you see in this virus in the two of them, that leaves the videos narrative with a little hope.

[su_box title=”Did you know …” box_color=”#cc202c”]When asked if there were strategies in place for a Zombie Apocalypse the Ministry of Defence stated:
“In the event of an apocalyptic incident (eg zombies), any plans to rebuild and return England to its pre-attack glory would be led by the Cabinet Office, and thus any pre-planning activity would also taken place there. The Ministry of Defence’s role in any such event would be to provide military support to the civil authorities, not take the lead. Consequently, the Ministry of Defence holds no information on this matter.”[/su_box]
