Oh My Girl (often abbreviated to OMG and stylised as OH!MYGIRL) are an eight member girl group that debuted in April last year under WM Entertainment. The members are: Hyojung, JinE, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, Binnie, and Arin.
The group, originally marketed as the sister group of their label mates B1A4, have so far released three Korean albums (‘Oh My Girl’, ‘Closer’ and ‘Pink Ocean’) and one Japanese album (‘Pink Ocean/Windy Day’). They have also released 3 music videos.
Before their debut, member Seunghee was a contestant on Mnet’s ‘Superstar K2’. Jiho actually graduated high school with Lovelyz’ member Sujeong, Seventeen’s DK and GFriend’s Eunha and Yuju.
The girls have all appeared on the programmes ‘After School Club’, ‘Golden Bell Challenge’, ‘Baek Jong-won’s Three Great Emperors’ as well as their own MBC Music programme ‘Oh My Girl Cast’. Seunghee appeared in the web drama series ‘Loss:Time:Life’. A few of the members have also been a part of many different series, including ‘Vitamin’, ‘Star King’ and ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams’.

Seunghee made a small appearance in Lim Chang Jung’s ‘Open the Door’ MV, and Jiho was the lead female role in B1A4’s ‘Sweet Girl’ MV. The group have also been nominated for many awards and managed to win Best New Artist (Female) at SBS Power FM Cultwo Show Awards last year.
Last December, the group hit the headlines for being refused entry into America. They intended to travel to Los Angeles for a special photoshoot, but the U.S Customs and Border Protection workers believed that the girls were actually there to perform after seeing the costumes and props in their luggage and stated that they did not have the right type of visa required for this. There were many rumours surrounding this incident, with the management suggesting that the girls were mistaken for underage prostitutes by the US authorities and that they were detained for 15 hours before being sent back to Korea. The US representatives denied this though, and said that the group were actually sent on first available flight back.
The group have been quite well received thus far with their very feminine image and catchy tracks. It will be interesting to see how the group will do in the future.
