For today’s review we’ll be taking you right back into Korean skincare products… once again, I know! Giving you a look at the insanely popular ‘Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3 Step Kit’ by Holika Holika!

If I’m honest, I’m not the most familiar with Holika Holika products. So I had no idea what to expect, or even where to start with their product range, but I discovered the ‘Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3 Step Kit’ Holika Holika released is incredibly popular. You only have to check YouTube to see a bunch of videos featuring it! When I saw it available I knew I had to try it.

Inside the bold and easy to navigate packaging, you’ll find the three separate perforated sections. Each one has its own colour so even if they get separated you don’t have to worry about putting them on or opening them in the wrong order! You start with a clean and freshly cleansed face, and apply Step 1. This comes in the form of a damp nose strip, soaked in an essence that will open and soften the pores on the nose area (or wherever you decide to apply the strip). This one is incredibly similar to the feel of a sheet mask- and you just let it sit and soak in working it’s magic for 10-20 minutes. After the time is up, you can take the strip off and pat in or wipe away any excess and slightly dampen your nose ready for Step 2. This involves applying the nose strip across the pores where any gunk or black heads will be pulled out. You leave this on again for another 15 minutes and you can actually feel it harden in place! Next comes the uncomfortable part… pulling the strip off. Being incredibly gentle, and starting from an edge, begin to remove the nose strip. I found this a little sore to do, because I think I lost track of time and left it on too long! When you remove it all you should see the blackheads and gunk removed from the strip. You can then go into Step 3, a big cooling jelly type strip that’ll cool the redness from the blackhead removal and close the pores to prevent anymore clogging.

Overall, I had super high hopes for this product! I loved the whole 3 step process because it felt like I was really making sure the skin was prepped and finished with the cooling strip properly but when I removed the strip it took nothing. I could visibly see in pores with gunk in that probably should have come out didn’t, and it actually made me break out afterwards. I’m not sure if my sensitive/acne prone skin didn’t react well to one of the ingredients, or even if I left a certain step on for just a bit too long and it effected the overall outcome.

For me, I don’t think I’d buy another of these sets, but seeing how well they work for other people it’s actually tempting me to test another just to see if it was just a fault of my own during one of the steps! I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone else with sensitive skin though, just in case it caused a breakout, but people with normal skin types may find this works ok!
