SF9 are a nine-member male group that debuted under FNC Entertainment early last month. The name SF9 is shortened from ‘Sensational Feeling 9’.
The members are: Youngbin (leader), Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Rowoon, Zuho, Taeyang, Hwiyoung and Chani. Their ages range from 16-23 years old.
They have released a single album entitled ‘Feeling Sensation’ including the track ‘Fanfare’, which became their debut music video.
Before their debut, the group were contestants in the FNC Survival show ‘D.O.B (Dance or Band)’, where they performed under the name NEOZ Dance. They ended up winning the show. The members all also appeared in the 2016 web drama ‘Click Your Heart’, Dawon played the male lead in label mate and sub-group AOA Cream’s MV ‘I’m Jelly Baby’ and Rowoon starred in a contact lens advert alongside AOA’s Seolhyun. Maknae Chani was also in the 2016 drama series ‘Signal’ and is a former child actor, with roles in the dramas ‘Can You Hear My Heart’ (2011), ‘The Queen’s Classroom’ (2013) and many more. Chani was also featured in the MV for DBSK’s popular single ‘Balloons’ back in 2006!
SF9 have a reality programme called ‘Spectacle Fantasy 9’ which follows the group as they go on a short vacation together and partake in many fun activities.
Of course, this is just the start for SF9, but the group have already been nominated for two awards at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) 2016. They are up for ‘Best New Male Artist’ and ‘HotelsCombined Artist of the Year’ awards. It will be interesting to see if they win, as well as what the future holds for them as a group.
