YG girl group BlackPink has become the first Korean girl group to impact the Official Trending Chart in the UK. The news comes in after their comeback single “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has been viewed on youtube over 78 million times, as of time of publication.

The track is perched on number 17 inbetween ZieZie’s “Fine Girl” and NOTD ft Bea Miller’s “I Wanna Know”.. BTS have been found on this chart too, with Mic Drop ranking at #9 on 27th November 2017.

The Official Trending Chart launched in 2016 in order to highlight the newest tracks having the biggest impact in the UK and are updated weekly. It compiles streams and track sales across all platforms. It is devised with consultation from labels, retailers and the media. Aiming to highlight hit singles in their early stages of growth, it only features songs not previously on the charts. With BlackPink being the first girl group to enter the chart, it suggests that K-Pop is growing in popularity. Opening future doors, this leaves us wondering what other new music is set to take the United Kingdom by storm.
