It’s October already! Can you believe it?

As we settle into the autumn season, and get ourselves geared up for the spookiest time of the year, let’s take a quick look at just a few of the Korean music releases of the past week!

S.O.U.L – ‘Get Myself With You’ MV
Released: 01/10/2018

S.O.U.L are a mixture of a group – featuring Jung Yuan, ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo, actor Ahn Hyo Seop and Mnet’s ‘High School Rapper’ contestant Bang Jae Min. ‘Get Myself With You’ is their debut song.

The song is super funky, but still layers over harmonic vocals. It kind of reminds me of the sort of thing the Jackson Five might produce if they were still around as a group today (okay, is that just me?) Though, it’s much better suited to the music of today as it has more attitude and some cool rap segments.

The heavy beat is the sort of thing you can’t help but tap your foot to, whether you actually like the song or not!

Yuri – ‘Into You’ MV
Released: 04/10/2018

Wow, Yuri is certainly keeping herself busy, isn’t she?! Having only recently been working to promote ‘Lil Touch’ with new Girls’ Generation sub unit Oh!GG, now she’s on her solo game. ‘Into You’ manages to be chilled, while still giving a thumping beat. It’s sound and video evokes a summer vibe that will have you clinging onto the last few warm days we have left this year. The choreography is interesting, and the video has a kind of classic SM ‘dance-in-a-box’ style.

The Rose – ‘She’s in the Rain’ MV
Released: 04/10/2018

What a beautiful song! You can truly feel the emotion coming from every word sung in this song. It’s a wonderful ballad about wanting to help someone you love through the rough times, even if that means putting yourself in the pain too. For anyone who loves ballads or slow rock songs, give this a listen. Usually, I’m not a fan of this type of music, but the beauty of this track is hard to deny.

Lay – ‘Give Me A Chance’ MV
Released: 6/10/2018

EXO-Ls rejoice – your Lay is here! I am taken aback by how fantastic Lay’s English is in this entirely English track; I must have missed the memo about his great English skills…

This track has a real ‘old skool’ R’n’B flavour, it’s sexy and smooth. It includes rap parts that remind me a little bit of Drake, but Lay also showcases some impressive vocals with his high notes. Of course, it should almost go without saying whenever EXO is involved, but the dance moves are also great!
