It has been a busy week in K-pop in terms of releases – with a wide range of artists from big artists such as Twice and DKB to name a few alongside emerging groups such as rookie group IVE showcasing their talent on a global stage.
This week also features a wide range of new and unknown artists that are definitely worth a listen!
CIX – 458
A personal favourite of mine this week, this boy group never fails to disappoint. Maybe not one of the first K-pop boy groups you might think about, but this release proves that these boys are not the ones to sleep on. Building off their first album ‘OK’ this song is part of their latest EP ‘OK’ Episode 1: OK Not.
The aesthetics of this music video is strong with a great choice of outfits and props matched by the effects and the strong vocals and harmonisation with the strong rapping bringing the song a good balance.
IVE – After Like
What can be said about this song that hasn’t been said already featured in the UnitedKpop song of the week accessible here. This song has further propelled this rookie girl group into K-pop stardom topping both the YouTube music charts alongside the iTunes and album charts.
The song features a song message of female empowerment alongside a strong music video featuring great colours with each member representing a different colour with strong visual effects such as fireworks and scenes with props and background matching each member’s colours.
AB6IX – chance
It wasn’t too long ago that AB6IX released their latest EP, but another week and another impressive release from the 4-member boy group, this release is accompanied by a beautiful music video. Made up from a compilation of their US tour both on stage and off, this song pulls at the heartstrings with beautiful moments of them preparing to perform and interacting with fans, placed alongside bright colours and beautiful lyrics and singing ability. This song is a must for any AB6IX or anyone looking for a classic summer tune.
