As you might already know, it’s common for K-Idols to cover mainstream music. As Americans and Canadians are making it into the charts more these days, we don’t hear many K-Idol covers of songs sung by a British singer. They’re not easy to find, and because of this, we’ve collected a few British song covers by K-Pop singers from 2013! (And maybe some extras.)
Hanbyul from LedApple – Rolling in the Deep (Adele)
When people go to cover a song, Adele is mainly their first choice. So many people cover songs like Rolling in the Deep and because of this there is a lot of competition. I really like how he covered this song, his voice sounds really nice with it.
LC9 – What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction)
This video is filmed in the same style as the original One Direction video, so they’re keeping the same sort of style which came with the song. Check out out our post on it here!
LedApple – Uprising (Muse)
This style suits them, it seems that they have no problem with pulling anything off well.
Lunafly – Impossible (James Arthur)
This song is originally by Shontelle, but it only became well known because of James Arthur. Since he did it, I’ve seen so many people covering the song so again, there’s a lot of competition. But I think they did a good job with it. As Sam from Lunafly is British, they do tend to cover more British songs than other K-Pop artists do.
This is just one of the many Lunafly covers. They have also done Olly Murs, Jessie J, Adele and more! Check out their YouTube channel to watch them.
Now, moving on to some older covers.
Lee Hi – Rolling in the Deep (Adele)
You can hear her accent a little bit, but she’s still young so we’ll let her get away with it. It’s been a year since she recorded this, and her powerful voice makes up for it. This song has also been covered by Tiffany from SNSD. Watch her version here and let us know whose version you liked better! As you might know, the British media seem to like SNSD as they get mentioned a lot in British news.
2PM, F.T Island, C.N Blue – We Will Rock You (Queen)
They’ve clearly had a lot of fun performing this in Gayo Daejun 2012! The song is originally quite upbeat, it’s nice to see that they haven’t taken it too seriously and just had fun with it.
Younha – Viva La Vida (Coldplay)
From 2012, I think we can safely say she couldn’t have covered this better! Her voice sounds really nice with this song, and the crowd clearly loved it too!
Changmin, Joonsu, Jonghyun, Yoseob and Jungmo – Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
This was a special stage in 2012, a collaboration between a few idols. The whole setup looked really great, and the dancers are a really nice touch to it. We even have a collab between Queen member Brian May and PSY to look forward to! Find out more.
IU – Better in Time (Leona Lewis)
IU and Leona Lewis have completely different singing styles, so it’s nice to see IU’s take on this song.
SNSD’s Tiffany, Sooyoung, Jessica and Sunng – Wannabe (Spice Girls)
I personally love this song, and the girls look stunning!
SNSD’s Tiffany – Bleeding Love (Leona Lewis)
Although there were a few slip ups with the lyrics, she pulled it off very well. For anyone who doesn’t know the song, the slip ups wouldn’t even be noticeable!
TaeTiSeo – Mama Do (Pixie Lott)
Although it’s a very short cover, they hit all the notes perfectly!
SNSD – Danny Boy (Celtic Woman)

This really shows off their voices well. It sounds really pretty.
Just as a nice bonus, here’s GD&TOP’s collaboration with British singer Pixie Lott.
Thanks to other UnitedKpop staff Steffi, Lore and Xin Ting for the input! Do you know of anymore British songs covered by K-Pop artists? If so, let us know in the comments below and we’ll add it to the list!
