For this weeks ‘Friday Foods’ we check out how to make a delicious chicken dish known as ‘andong jjim dak’!

Ingredients:

– 2lb chicken
– 2oz starch noodles
– 3 potatoes
– 1 onion
– 2 carrots
– 1 green onion
– 1 red pepper
– A few dried chilli peppers (depending on how hot you want it!)
– handful of mushrooms
– 3 cups water
– 5 tbspn soy sauce
– 5 tbspn brown sugar
– 1tbspn minced garlic
– 2 tbspn sesame oil
– Black pepper
– Sesame seeds
– Vegetable oil

Step 1: Wash the chicken and cut them into bitesize pieces. Then rinse again and set aside.

Step 2: Soak 1oz of the starch noodles in cold water.

Step 3: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and a pinch of black pepper.

Step 4: Peel, and chop the vegetables to your liking.

Step 5: Heat up a wok and add a few tsp’s of vegetable oil. Then add a few dried chilli’s but take out after 30 seconds.

Step 6: Add the chicken and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7: Add in the sauce from step 3, potatoes and water, cooking for 10 minutes.

Step 8: Add in the carrots and onions.

Step 9: Add in the soaked starch noodles, red pepper and mushrooms, stirring for 8-10 minutes.

Step 10: Make sure the chicken is cooked and transfer to a serving plate. Garnish it with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 11: Enjoy it with some rice or on its own!
