For this weeks ‘Friday Foods’ we check out how to make miyeokguk, a simple but very popular seaweed soup made with beef.

Ingredients:

– 3 cups of soaked seaweed
– 300 grams of beef
– 2 tsp of minced garlic
– salt and pepper
– sesame oil
– 13 cups of water

Step 1: After soaking the seaweed for half an hour, rinse and drain thoroughly 2-3 times. After draining, cut into bite size pieces.

Step 2: Wash the beef and also cut into bite size pieces. Marinate simply with garlic, salt, and pepper.

Step 3: In a large pot, add some sesame oil and the beef and cook over a medium heat until it is no longer red.

Step 4: Add the seaweed and continue to cook for another 6-7 minutes.

Step 5: Add the water and bring to a boil.

Step 6: Lower the heat to low, and cover the pot. Cook until the meat is tender (roughly 30 minutes).

Step 7: Serve with rice, or on its own. Enjoy!
