Laboum are a six member, female K-Pop group that debuted under NH Media and Nega Network in 2014. The members are: Yujeong, Soyeon, ZN, Haein, Solbin, Yulhee.
So far they have released 3 single albums: ‘Petit Macaron’, ‘Sugar Sugar’ and ‘Aalow Aalow’. They will also be releasing a new single album this month entitled ‘Fresh Adventure’ alongside their 2016 comeback!
They have been featured in many different variety shows thus far, including ‘After School Club’ and even ‘SNL Korea’. Most of the girls have also appeared as guests on ‘Dream Team’ and Solbin has been a special MC on ‘Music Bank’ before. ZN was also part of the cast of a 2015 web drama ‘About Love’ alongside U-KISS’ Kevin for two episodes.
Both before and after their debut, a few of the members have featured in other artists’ music videos. This includes the work of label mates Brown Eyed Girls and U-KISS – Solbin was in B.E.G’s MV for one summer night and Yulhee featured in two U-KISS MVs (‘Standing Still’ and ‘Inside of Me’).
The girls have a very colourful and sweet image with an ever-so-slight French influence (Laboum actually means ‘The Party’ in French). They embody the approachable girl-next-door stereotype and revealing clothing is certainly not part of their wardrobe. Their songs are often very bouncy and happy, but not so much so that you will be rolling your eyes in exasperation at any forced aegyo.
The group has a very bright and spring-like style to them. They are a girl group that you can listen to when you are in need of a pick-me-up and it is very refreshing to see a group that is not resorting to extremes and controversial marketing tactics in order to get noticed.
