Korea already has a great reputation for good eats, but this month in particular the south island of Jeju is foodie heaven. The Jeju Food and Wine Festival, featuring Michelin-starred chefs from China and Japan as well as Korea, is running until May 20th.

It’s the second festival of its kind in Jeju. The first was held last year, in a bid to promote Jeju’s livestock, fisheries and agriculture industries. This year’s festival is even bigger, with over 50 restaurants in Jeju participating.

On Thursday May 18th, Jeju Halla University will host a masterclass by six chefs. The chefs will demonstrate their signature dishes and create brand-new dishes live on stage using Jeju-grown ingredients. There’s also a wine event and food booths on offer for visitors.

Friday May 19th features a Garden Dinner where 14 different chefs will prepare dishes for up to 600 diners. The event is held outdoors at Maison Glad Jeju, so that diners can enjoy the sunset along with their desserts and after-dinner drinks. A special gala dinner is also being held on the 20th to round off the festival in style. Some of Asia’s finest Michelin-starred chefs will whip up fancy fare for 350 diners at the Haevichi Hotel and Resort.
