Storming Korea’s music shows with their latest release Luv, A Pink are the first girl group ever to win first place on all three shows for two consecutive weeks. It’s a win that’s way overdue for Pink Pandas, the fanbase that’s supported the girls since their debut in April 2011.
There are currently six members in A Pink: Chorong (leader), Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Namjoo and Hayoung (maknae). A seventh member, Yookyung, left the group last year to concentrate on her studies.
Since their debut with the song Mollayo, they’ve released 5 Korean EPs and one studio album Une Annee, with A Cube Entertainment. Their signature style is pairing cute, playful tunes with matching cute outfits, from school uniforms to sailor dresses.
Aside from their clothing and music, A Pink’s charity work is also memorable. They’ve sheltered some abandoned dogs for the show Birth of a Family, hosted a tea room where they personally served fans, and were involved in a one-day event for ALS (the cause that got everyone taking the ice bucket challenge earlier this year).
Naeun was in the 4th season of We Got Married with SHINee’s Taemin last year, but the super six filmed their own reality show, Showtime, being the first girl group to do so this year. In fact, they’ve had a very busy 2014; they released Mr Chu from their Pink Blossom EP in March, which zoomed to number one in nine different music charts on its release. They also released a Japanese debut album NoNoNo, and launched a sub-unit of Bomi and Namjoo called APink BnN too. Pink Luv, released in November, is the latest EP that’s dominating the music shows.
