As the award season has officially arrived to celebrate all the achievements and success in K-Pop, EXO has been a consistent contender each year since their debut in 2012. In total, they have been nominated for over 200 awards and hold a current number of wins at 136!

Metro reported on a tweet in August from the Guinness World Records to share the success stories from two examples of some of the biggest groups in K-Pop. Presently, EXO share the title of having the most Daesangs winnings at the Mnet Asian Music Awards with another renowned group, which is BIGBANG!

The Daesang awards have always been known as being announcements towards the end of the majority of Korean award ceremonies, which include the categories ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’. EXO won ‘Artist of the Year’ in 2014 and then ‘Album of the Year’ consecutively in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016! With BIGBANG, they won ‘Song of the Year’ in 2007 and 2015, ‘Artist of the Year’ in 2008, 2012 and 2015.

So currently, both groups are winners of 5 Daesangs each! You can find out this year’s winners at MAMA 2017 on December 1 to see if EXO will break their own record! You can read the full article from Metro UK here!
