Self proclaimed “internet mom” and leader of the now-disbanded 2NE1, CL, is set to perform at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics closing ceremony on February 25th!

Born in 1991, CL (Lee Chaerin, or Chaelin) successfully auditioned as a trainee at her current agency, YG Entertainment, at the age of 15. Through the entertainment agency, she was placed as leader and debuted alongside other trainees, Bom, Dara, and Minzy as 2NE1 (acronym for “New Evolution of the 21st Century”) in May 2009. Through their debut up until their disbandment in 2016, 2NE1 had a range of number one hits from the smooth R&B hit “I Don’t Care”, to the cold ballad of “Missing You”.

While a member of 2NE1 and thereafter, CL has also spawned a solo career for herself singing in Korean and English! Her stateside debut single, “Lifted” as able to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and was performed on The Late Late Show with British comedian James Corden!

A full length English album is currently in the works with Scooter Braun managing her western promotions. The release date is still undecided, but who knows? Her album was recently completed and could be announced at any time soon! As a New Years present from the multilingual queen herself, a minute preview of an unreleased track “All In” was uploaded to her Instagram account exciting fans for the year ahead.

Are you thrilled for CL’s performance coming up at the end of the month? What songs do you think will she perform? This also begs the wish from Blackjacks that this would be a similar event to 2015 MAMA – a possible reunion with the other 2NE1 members. Let’s keep our eyes open, shall we?
