This week we’ll be learning body parts, and a well known children’s rhyme, with BIGBANG’s G Dragon and Taeyang. In their songs Crayon and Eyes, Nose, Lips the pair name almost all of the body parts we’ll need to sing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Korean!
So here’s a mini anatomy lesson with, questionably qualified, Professors GD and Taeyang:
G Dragon begins his track with the lyrics:
머리 어깨 무릎 발
Meori, eokkae, mureup, bal
Head, shoulders, knees and toes
If we are being technical 발 (Bal) means foot, though the artistic license of rhythm and lyrics allows for its substitution for toes.

너의 눈 코 입
neoui nun, ko, ib
Your eyes, nose, lips
As with Crayon a little artistic license is used, 입 (ib) is mouth, rather than lips, though the rhythm and lyrics allows for입to have a looser context here.

To sing the nursery rhyme Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes in Korean there is one more word we need to know, ears: 귀 gwi.
The rhyme changes ever so slightly in Korean. Here it is romanised alongside its English translation. [Hear here]
Meori, eokkae, mereup, bal, mereup, bal
Head, shoulders, knee and foot, knee and foot
Meori, eokkae, mereup, bal, mereup, bal
Head, shoulders, knee and foot, knee and foot
Meori, eokkae, bal, mereup, bal
Head, shoulders, foot, knee and foot
Meori, eokkae, mureup, gei, ko, ib
Head, shoulders, knee, ear, nose, mouth
So there you have it. Anatomy with G Dragon and Taeyang. Can you name any other body parts in Korean? Are there any more in Kpop songs?
