Van Gogh Inside: Festival of Light and Music will take place in Jeju at the Booyoung Hotel & Resort from June 17th. The exhibition was initially launched early this year at the Seoul Culture Station 284 (with Jang Geun Suk as an ambassador) and gained a reputation as a must-visit cultural event among the public. If you missed it in Seoul, you can try visiting its stop in Jeju which kicked off on June 17th.
As the title of the exhibition “Van Gogh Inside: Festival of Light and Music” implies, it goes beyond the paintings into a whole new experience. It projects Van Gogh’s work and other impressionist masterpieces as moving images through full HD projectors, accompanied by light and music. Moreover, it adopts a number of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) devices to help the visitors enjoy a hands-on experience about Van Gogh’s works. This will be one-of-a-kind experience where technology and art come together.
“Van Gogh Inside: Festival of Light and Music” is composed of four themes, following the artistic footsteps of Van Gogh. It displays images of the paintings produced during his stay in Paris, Arles, and continues to those created in Auvers-sur-Oise, where he spent the last 3 months of his life. In Interactive Zones, you can enjoy the legendary masterpieces of the 19th century with AR and VR devices. If you capture the photographs of Nuenen, Paris, and Arles with the pad, it turns into the famous artwork of Van Gogh. You can see how Van Gogh interpreted the scenery on his canvas. You can also walk alongside the Night Café from his painting of 1888 by wearing a VR device.
The exhibition must be as pioneering as the works were when they were first introduced to the public over a hundred years ago. Any foreigner interested in this exhibition can book tickets at NADOYO, a platform where you can discover cultural knowledge about Korea and things to do all across the country. NADOYO provides the tickets for the exhibition using Paypal, Alipay, and a few other overseas payment services at a 20% discounted price.
