On March 3rd, MBC announced that ‘The King of Mask Singer’ will be getting European remakes this year!

‘The King of Mask Singer’ is a Korean TV show where singers perform in costumes that disguise their identities. They compete one-on-one in three elimination rounds and don’t reveal their identities until they have been eliminated. The show started airing in 2015 and has been popular in Korea ever since. ‘The King of Mask Singer’ has included popular Korean artists like BTS’s Jungkook and EXO’s Chen.

The show even showcased the talents of American actor Ryan Reynolds!

An American version of the show called ‘The Masked Singer’ has already been broadcast on FOX and has been confirmed for a second season. The show was popular and attracted an average of 10 million viewers per episode.

Due to the popularity of the American adaption, the unique format of the show is moving to Europe. France, Germany and The Netherlands will have their versions of the show broadcast by the end of the year.

The first country to be making their remake is France. The show has been picked up by France’s largest broadcasting company TF1. The show will air on this channel in France, Switzerland and Belgium.
