Welcome back to Film Fridays! Today we’re going to be looking at the unusual action/comedy film Gangster Grannies (aka Twilight Gangsters).

This film follows the lives of three life-long friends, Jung Ja, Young Hee and Shin Ja, as they plan to go on their dream vacation to Hawaii that they have been saving for for the past eight years. They finally have enough saved to be able to book their holiday but everything goes wrong when they go to the bank to deposit their cash to wire to the travel agent and bank robbers turn up and steal, taking their hard-earned money with them.

When it turns out that the bank is under no obligation to reimburse them due to a clerical technicality, the women see their life-long dream destroyed and decide that if they won’t be getting their money back, then drastic measures will have to be taken. As such, they enlist the unwilling help of a professional bank robber in their scheme to get back their money.

I highly recommend this film to pretty much anyone, as there is humour, action, and a great sense of pride watching three elderly women seek justice against a system that has failed them so badly. The premise of the film seems  a little silly, but the plot is wonderfully executed and you’ll be rooting for them from the moment the film begins!

Have you seen this film? Planning on watching it? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Until next time!
