If you’re in Korea this weekend, make time for some light relief in Busan, as the annual International Comedy Festival is on for a few more days.

The festival is the largest international comedy festival in Asia. It started as a four-day event in 2013, and has grown in popularity and size every year. Some well-known TV comedians such as those from KBS’s Gag Concert regularly appear. International comedians also take to the stage from Japan, Australia, the UK and Canada among other places.

Every year, three awards are given to comedy acts: The Ocean of Busan Prize (for Korean comedy acts); THe Ocean of Laughter award (for international comedy acts), and the Rookie Award (for newcomers to the comedy scene). Winners nab 5 million won and a trophy.

The festival features both sketch shows and stand-up acts in various locations over the week. Check the official website for more location and show time details. This year’s festival ends on September 3rd.
