Sweet potatoes: the favourite diet food of many a K-pop star, through probably not prepared exactly in this style if they’re off the sugar. Matang 마탕 is a popular side dish that boosts the sweet yumminess of the spuds by deep frying them and adding some extra caramelly sauce! The finished potatoes are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

Easy to prepare, they make a great TV snack or side dish served with other Korean main meals. All you need to make matang can be found easily in the supermarket: sweet potatoes, vegetable oil, sugar and black sesame seeds.
